Features / Advantages
- Cold curing, cures at ambient temperature
- Chemically curing type, no external curing is required.
- Bonds strongly on cement concrete, cement plaster, asbestos, mild steel, wood, stones etc.
- Cures to a tough, flexible and abrasion resistant coating .
- Resistant to water, dilute acids, alkalies, oils & various other chemical solutions.
- Resistant to fungus & micro-organism growth.
- Performs well in service temperature range of -20°C to +3o°c.
- Being clear in nature, it does not affect the original appearance / colour of surface.
Typical Application
- Protection / waterproofing of external vertical walls, build ing roofs, terraces from' external
disturbances
- Protection of metal, wood , asbestos from external disturbances like humidity, U-V rays etc .
- Additional protection to top coat from weathering, corrosion etc.
- Can be applied on concrete / metallic floor as a scratch proof abrasion resistant
Mixing
Mix Part I & Part II in their individual original containers. Pour the entire quantity (content) of the
Part II tin into the Part I tin. Mix both the parts thoroughly by spatula to a homogenous mixture for
atleast 5 to 10 minutes.
Method of Application
By brush or airless spray.
Thinner
TECHCOAT CLEAR is normally supplied at application viscosity. However 5% of solvent, Xylene
or Toluene can be used to overcome the problem of quicker drying due to hot substrate and
sunheat.
Direction for use
Surface preparation
Surface preparation is.of great importance and will affect the degree of adhesion and life of the
coating.
The surface should be absolutely dry, free from dust, loose particles, damaged plaster, oils,
greases, mould release agents and dirt. Thorough wire brushing of the surface is a must.
Previously applied bituminous compound / coating should be removed to the extent possible. The
new concrete I plastered surface should be cured with water for minimum 28 days.
Clean the dust by washing it with water & allow the surface to dry completely. If the surface is too
old and saturated with dirt, treatment with 15-20% hydrochloric acid is recommended with thorough
wire brushing. Wash the surface with water till neutralisation. Allow the surface to dry completely.
Waterproofing of Roof Terrace &
parapet walls.
- Repair damaged cement plaster or concrete
mortar with Mastercrete M-81, acrylic
modifier.
- Use 5-10% by weight of M-81 on cement
weight for the preparation of mortar.
- Before placing mortar, apply bond coat
of O.P. cement & M-81 (2:1 parts by
wt). M-81 improves the compression, flexural
strength & bonding of new mortar with
old concrete surfaces.
- Cure the repaired mortar for 7 days
to 28 days with water before application
of Techcoat.
- Fill the cracks upto 2mm width with
Techoxy or Techmast with O.P. cement white
/ grey (1:2 parts by wt.) putty. Allow
to dry for overnight 24 hours.
- Seal the cracks wider than 2mm with
polysulphide sealant Techseal RDL-940
& Primer RDL-942 after making the
joint / groove of 5x5 mm or 10x10mm into
the crack
- For large terrace (>3000sq.ft) provide
dummy joints at span of 5 meter. length.
Seal the joints with polysulphide sealant,
Techseal RDL-940 & Primer RDL-942.
Allow it to cure for minimum 24 hours.
- Seal the joint of parapet wall &
roof slab as fillet seal with polysulphide
sealant Techseal RDL-940 & Primer
RDL-942. Allow the sealant to cure form
minimum 24 hours.
- Apply 1 coat of Techoxy coating as
a primer. Being water based it penetrates
into the concrete, seals porosity, micro
devices, hardens & waterproofs the
surface. Allow it dry for minimum 10-12
hours.
- Apply 2 coats of Techcoat at an interval
of 6 hours. Allow the entire waterproofing
system to cure for minimum 72 hours before
checking leakage test.
Vertical walls & chajjas (externally)
Normally the system used for roof terraces
may be applied. For less problematic surfaces,
seal the cracks with 1 coat of Techoxy followed
by 1 coat of Techcoat.
Mild steel, Galvanised & aluminium water
tanks (externally)
Remove rusty scales by high sandblasting
/ sanding with emery paper / wire brushing.
Wipe the surface with solvent (Xylene /
Toulene / Acetone etc) soaked cloth.
- On mild steel surface, apply 1-2 coats
of epoxy primer. Apply 2 coats of Techcoat.
- On Aluminium / galvanised surface,
apply 1-2 coats of polyvinyl butyl based
wash primer & then apply 1-2 coats
of Techcoat
Cleaning of tools & equipments
Tools and equipments should be cleaned with Xylene, Toluene or Acetone solvents
Storage & Shelf-life
The shelf life is twelve months from the date of manufacturing when stored in original unopened
conta iners at a temperature between -10°C to +35°C. Materials must be consumed as soon as
the containers are opened.
Precautions
Some people are sensitive to resins.hardeners.solvents and its vapours, so it is advisable to
use hand gloves and goggles.
While application proper ventilation should be provided.
Avoid application below 10°C temperature of the surface. At low temperatures, drying and
curing periods will be prolonged.
Avoid application on damp or moist conditions as it will create blister formation problem.
Do not apply from inside of the tank or room, solvent vapours will pose problem to the
applicator.
Store at cool and dry place.
Before opening part II bottle, place it at a slight inclined angle, away from your body and then
open it slowly.
